I'm scared. Now that the real day is fast approaching, it's not fantasy anymore. I'm scared.

I'm afraid of Dr. Bob and I'm afraid of any new people. :-(

I think I'll be mute for the trip. This sucks. I hate this. Why can't I just be normal?

I need more confidence in myself.

I think I need to drink a lot of yucky alcohol.

I'm scared.

Don't be scared. You are a sweet person and anyone would love to hang out with you.

Besides, I'm sure they are as scared as you are. I was.

Hi Deneb,

so sorry you're feeling like this. It's a big thing for you to go hun.

You did it in Toronto! You'll be OKAY.

Just think of the fun you're going to have regarding your accommodations! You will NOT - repeat NOT be alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO!! :-)))))

I hear your fears though & don't mean to minimize them. But the actually reality Deneb, is that once you check in to your hotel, you won't be alone. You can stick like glue - I'm sure that would be fine. Check it out!

I send my love & HEY - I wish I was going to be there.

Love, Kath

PS - thx for saying how you're feeling

The trip is fast approaching!

I wish I could have gone. But when I looked for rooms, the prices were just too high, and many of the rooms were already gone. I'd have had to stay a long way away, and if I'm going to go to a strange city, I'd really rather stay close to the meeting place.

The first Babblefest was held without the APA conference, and maybe that's a good thing? Maybe it's because of the APA that everything is booked up?

Although I shouldn't complain. In 2010 it will be here. lol.

I'm really sorry I won't be able to make it. I had hoped to be able to extend my trip to the USA from Europe, but I just don't have the time. Perhaps next year. I hope you all have a great party.

Will babblefest still be with the annual meeting in San Francisco? The weekend before or the weekend after? Saturday and Sunday or just Sunday, or Sunday and Monday?

Are we having one?

I have husband's blessing this time, as he wishes to go somewhere himself (grin). Apparently solo trips have become more acceptable.

But I'd like to do things as very early as possible, because I really left it too late this time. San Francisco is probably no less expensive than Washington.

Ooooh! Next year! I hope to go next year too. I used to live in San Francisco. It'll be neat to visit it again. I was little then so I don't know my way around the city.

I can't wait to see Dr. Bob and Babblers again! It's fun.

(((((((Dr. Bob))))))))) love you! :-)

Our "tradition" is to have it the weekend before, on Sat. and Sun. Which in this case would be May 16 and 17. Let's plan on that. Is it too early for a Yahoo group? I'm looking forward to it already!

Yay! I'm happy now! I'm pretty sure I'm going too. Even my Mom wants me to go. She wants me to go visit my relatives on my Dad's side in California, but I don't really know them. I think I'll just do my own thing. Even if I have class I can go because the trip will be after exams in April.

Yay! Dinah is going!

Oooh, it's going to be so much fun! It's not too early to plan. Planning is the second best part about going on a trip. The trip itself is the best, but considering how long the planning stage can be I bet I derive a lot more pleasure from planning overall.

This is going to be fun! We should stay together this time, in same room or hotel. It's much more fun this way. I had a blast staying with llurpsie and jammer.

I was just looking up random stuff about San Francisco when I found articles that say there have been more than 1200 suicides since it opened in 1937.

This bridge is a suicide magnet with no suicide barriers.

Right now I'm just anxious. Maybe we should avoid going to the Golden Gate bridge next year.

Even though it doesn't make sense since I'm happy now, I'm afraid of the seductive allure of the death bridge. If I feel this while happy, imagine what others in a bad place would feel in the presence of the bridge? I have reason to believe Babblers are more prone to suicide than other groups so if we can, I'd like to prevent them whenever we can.

I may be overreacting right now.

Perhaps walking on the bridge will be really enjoyable, but I just know I can't help but think of jumping when I'm walking across. Gawd, maybe it's some OCD or something.

When I go to San Francisco, I'm going to visit Daly City too and find my old house and elementary school. It'll be cool. I'm going to see how things have changed.

I think I'll spend at least a week in San Franciso. I have a lot of memories from when I lived there.

My Mom wants me to visit relatives too. I may do that.

Anyone mind if I join the party? I would love to meet other Babblers. This almost seems like it's karma or something. I couldn't sleep last night and stumbled on to this thread. I continued reading and now I find this part about San Francisco. My nephew(he's like a son to me) just got his Phd. in April. He got married May 31st. They will be moving to the San Francisco area the beginning of July. He got a fantastic job offer doing just what he wants to do. The only problem is we live in the northeast and he will be 3,ooo miles away from me. This sounds like a perfect time for me to plan a trip to visit them and also meet some new friends. To top it all off, his birthday is May 19th, so I can celebrate that with him while I'm there! I would love to join the party if no one has any objections. Hugs

It'll be fun. I'm going to see Dr. Bob again. I love Dr. Bob. He's cool. He gave me his autograph when I asked for it.

I'm going to love Dr. Bob forever.

I love Dr. Bob and I also love Alex. I miss her.

Me too. I hope somebody puts some ideas for lodgings up. Expense could be an issue.

My dad (named after the president, a distant relative) was born in SF area, so I'd kind of like to get to San Mateo and check it out.

Expenses are definitely an issue. It's way more expensive there than here, and prices are globally going up with the oil prices. I notice that the items in my Amazon cart are bumping up in cost.

But I've mentally set aside the money to go this year, after missing the last few.

I'll look forward to meeting you in person. It always feels so strange to meet people you feel like you already know.
