Several people have asked about this so I thought I would post my question here.
Even if I couldn't go I hope there will be a Babble Party 2007. I hope I can go though. I would go even if it were far away. It'll be an adventure again. Trips are so exciting!
So, where would the next Babble Party be at? I think Dr. Bob definitely needs to be there, wherever we go.

Great question, Deneb. Never too early to think and plan ahead.
The APA meets in San Diego in May...not that it has to coincide. But I'm biased as I'd love to see Dr. Bob do another presentation like the one you so bravely spoke at (or a different one if they won't permit that) with visiting Babblers having the chance to be a part of that (or at a minimum, attend and listen), as we did. And, I love San Diego...it's a great city.

It's too late to propose a presentation for San Diego, but I'd still like to have another party there. Anybody else?
And it's not too early to think about a submission for the 2008 meeting, in Washington, DC. I've started a new thread about that below:

You should go - they are great fun.
Interesting how many people went who don't usually go out.

San Diego would be *really* scary for me. Hmmmm...what am I willing to do to see Dr. Bob again? LOL Go to the ends of the Earth. LOL
Wow, San Diego would involving taking a plane all by myself and arriving in a city I've never been in before. What if I get lost?
I'm really far away from San Diego LOL. Maybe if I go I should visit San Francisco too. I used to live near San Francisco.
I was just checking to see how much such a trip would cost me. Plane tickets cost $555 CAD plus hostel (7 nights for $154 USD) would total about $731 CAD. It's doable. I should probably allow for $500 spending money.
Ooooo, I want to go already! I want to have another adventure. Now is the time for me to travel. I don't have any commitments.
Now, the only question is, will Bob let me hug him a *third* time? LOL It should be an tradition, the annual hug from Deneb. LOL

I'd certainly be interested in meeting in San Diego. Did most people stay for the whole thing last time? I'd like to go ahead and start planning; but, that's just me. I'm a planner and I like to have things to look forward to.
Who else is interested? How long do you think you'd stay? Does your decision depend on whether we'd be able to attend the meeting?

I wish it weren't in the school year. I'll try to start saving up, but I haven't a great deal of hope that I'll be able to save up enough.

For me the best part of the trip is the planning part. Last time most people stayed for 3 days. If I were to go to San Diego I think I would stay for a week because San Diego is far away. What meeting are you talking about? The APA meeting? Last time we were able to see some of the workshops and stuff because we were "presenters". I don't think we would be able to get in without a pass.
Wow, I'm getting excited thinking about this. :-) I'm going to document my whole trip with mini movies and photos. I have the memory to do that now. LOL I guess getting ripped off in NYC was a good thing. LOL
(((((((((((((((((Babblers))))))))))))))))))))))
((((((((((((((((Dr. Bob)))))))))))))))))))I hope I'll be able to talk a little bit more next time. I don't usually talk.

I'd like to go, but I'm going to need specifics about generalities as soon as possible.
In particular, what days would Babble events occur? I don't need to know what the events are, just what days would be Babbling.

Actually, I think I wouldn't go to a meeting of people from Pbabble.
Not sure if it's a good thing for me that you have them.
I may be wrong.

I'm thinking of going too! I'm guessing that people will want to do stuff on the weekend. The APA thingie starts on May 19th, on a Sat. I think I might get there a day or two before everyone else. I want to do some exploring on my own and get used to the city.
I really really hope I can go and that others will come too. I'm going to try to talk more next time, I have to really try to talk.

Why do you think so?
I went to the one the year before last, and was surprised how much it was like meeting up with friends you know quite well. It didn't seem to change things at all. I already knew and liked them.
It was different seeing Dr. Bob in person and seeing him talk in complete sentences. But as far as fellow babblers... Well, we've chatted, we've posted, this was just meeting up in person. Which was also fun.

Still dependent on my saving up money. I hope my dogs are healthy for a while. (Well, I hope so anyway, but they're a non-voluntary source of expense.)
It'd be fun seeing you there. And you know us well enough to talk, don't you? It's no different than chat. :)

I already knew and liked them.I agree with Dinah. It was quite lovely, a lot of fun, and a very special time. I've also been fortunate in that I've been able to meet up with folks from Babble individually. I'm smiling broadly just thinking about those times. In my experience, it's always added a feeling of depth and warmth to the relationships that began online. I feel blessed to have had these times, and I look forward to more whenever I can arrange it.
Of course, it's true that there is an element of risk in meeting online folks in person, and this risk should not be overlooked. We all have to decide for ourselves what's best for us. The meetings via Babble have seemed to me to be set up so that privacy can be mantained if you wish, and the meetings are in public places, etc.
Do what's best for you, Honore. I'm sure that if I ever got to meet you, I'd count it as another treasured time, but I respect your needs. Love your name, too.
Take care,
gg

Yes, quite true. I'd forgotten that aspect.
The location of the places we meet aren't made public, and that helped me feel more secure.
But certainly my husband thought it was a risky venture. :)

Hmm San Diego,
I have relatives in SDiego. I wonder if they will still live there in May, as they are thinking of moving. The other complication is that I have an event to attend the following weekend that will also involve travel, and there's this little thing called the "Dissertation" that needs to be considered...
I wonder if I can get my sh*t together to graduate next semester?
It was kind of suggested to me by the folks who gave me a fellowship this year... finish up in 12-18 months.. OR ELSE lol.
I am 6 months in, and making good progress.
The other reason why SanDiego might be nice is because I'm pretty sure that i will have a frequent flyer free roundtrip earned by then. San Diego would be an expensive trip without such a ticket. Deneb, is there a youth hostel in SanD?
Also, if folks are interested in attending the APA conference, preregistration is always cheaper than on-site registration. Every conference I've been to offers student rates also.
so many choices to make.
I'll work on the Diss for today, however...
ciao lovelies.

I skipped class today and had a big huge argument with my parents, leading to me throwing a tantrum (throwing things and saying, "I don't want to go to school over and over again."
I need to do well this semester so now my parents and I have a deal. I can go to San Diego if I do well in my classes.
Do well in school and I can see Bob again. :-)
Bob, I'm going to do well this semester because a.) I don't want to be on academic probation b.) I want to graduate sometime this century and c.) I want to see you again.
I'm going to do well this semester. I have to do well this semester if I want to see Bob and Babblers in San Diego.
It's up to me. I just have to go to class and study. I can do it. No more skipping midterms and exams. I must do well or else I can't see Bob.
