Hi Toph!

Perhaps the compromise could be that she go to Chicago with you, have the opportunity to meet the Babble gang, and then she can do her own thing, like visit a museum she is interested in or do some shopping, if that's what she wants to do after having met your babble friends.

I so wish I could go this year < sigh >. It sounds like it is going to be fun.

No way I could like her better than you. I don't relate all that great to the mentally unsick.

Hi Toph,

Could you offer to help get ready for the garage sale? Putting on price tags, getting everything in place and helping out for the first hour or two?

Maybe you could still join us Saturday afternoon?

I understand how obligations are. My husband doesn't mind me going to meet my online friends, he cares more about how much I am paying for the hotel room for the night. I assure you I am worth every penny, and even if I'm not I still have a temp job for the next week or two.

She might feel better about it knowing she could come if she wanted to.

Very astute Mel. She actually doesn't want me around for the sale Poet. If someone asks how much something is, I say, just take it. She makes hundreds of dollars at these things and still deducts a capitol loss on the 1040. That's why she's an administrator and I'm still a social worker. Anyway, thanks for all the encouragement everyone. I'm sure I will be there for some part of this event. How could I miss an opportunity to meet a real elf?

My comment on families joining us was intended to spark some conversation about the topic - not to lay down the law. But no one else commented. I don't know if that is because other agreed, or if they felt they didn't have the option of disagreeing or what. But I certainly don't have any more say than anyone else! And, as I said, in the Depression Support group I really did like it when family came to support one of our members.

So... Don't take my opinion as *the* answer!!!!! It is just my opinion.

We'd never like her better than you, Toph. You're Toph, who's been here for us all this time. But we might be glad that our Toph has such a lovely wife and helpmate. :)

I think you should suggest she come meet us. If she sees we're not scary, she might feel better.

I have no problem with her coming.

I offered my husband the chance to come, and while he wouldn't have hung out with us, I'm sure, he would have probably said hi.

He couldn't though.

See, I just know see'd like you guys. But she has the garage sale. Oh, and I was wrong about the loss deduction. But you can donate the stuff that doesn't sell and make a charitible deduction, I'm told.

Have a great dinner. Michigan Avenue is fun at night. Be sure to get Bob so loaded he can't do any research on you guys. ; ) I wish I could hear all the stories. Hope to meet you Saturday.

I posted this on social-babble, but this is a story that should be of deep concern to *all* of the world's citizens for human rights to us with a mental illness.

I wonder if the posts get online faster when you type them in Chicago.

Babblemail me if you need to contact the crew here in the windy city.

A very excited Falls.

...from Spoc & Rainbowbrite (who is here getting ready to go to the airport now). I didn't know you had put together those gift bags yourself, that was sweet (literally!) of you. Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye, hope you had a good trip back! Btw, we just got back from a group lunch, during which a torrential downpour occurred, but none of us melted and we had a good time!

Rainbowbrights name suits her. But you're not really a Spoc ... too pretty and smiley.

Yes, much thanks for all you did to make this get-together so much fun and such a success. What a gal!

It was great to meet you, and to know that you are such a generous, fun, and warm person in real life, too.

Actually it was great to meet everyone face to face. I would say it was like putting on a pair of comfy shoes, but I seem to have forgotten what comfy shoes are like. :)
