aww 10derheart Ill take my vote back, since I have no idea if ill go or not, So lets say 6/4 = 6 votes :-)
Maybe someone could post on all the boards about it, maybe comfusing but add a pole on all the highly active boards and only for people who have not voted on admin. I dont know...just an idea.
I didnt find the announcement was all that visible. Or maybe Dr Bob could make it a really bright color in bigger letters.
unless its too late now, I have only recently been following.

No, no, your vote stays the same. Yours counts just as much as anyone's. I'm sure many are not sure they can do something - 100% - in June. I shouldn't have said anything - was just whining a little there...if it turns out that way, so be it. I'll still help plan if the others are okay w/that.
Hmm, I thought the announcement was very visible at the top of every board. But, it could be because I was expecting it and looking for it. It's probably not too late for anything yet. But maybe we'll let Dr. Bob get settled back into a routine after his trip, and then the committee can discuss where we're at with a firm date.
Plz keep offering your ideas - they are always creative and much appreciated :-)

Okay, I'm going to come out and say it...Is there really enough support and people committed to coming to actually have the event?
I don't mean to be a downer, but is there a minimun number of folks attending to break even? I suppose it depends on what scale event you plan, but I'm a bit concerned at the low response.

I don't see why not.
We just plan it at a McDonalds instead of the VFW hall.
(Just kidding, Dr. Bob. I know I'm not on the committee.)
Seriously, this has happened on other occasions. Dr. Bob has said he's going to be going to a certain city, even a city where Babblers are known to live, but in the end few actually show up to greet him.
But a small party can be fun too.

Hmm, not sure what "good point" refers to, but thanks for your preferred dates. I think that's fairly important to know ;-)
We've had only 11 posters vote (12 when Mel sees my post, I'm sure), not including yourself. One person said she didn't "notice the notice" on each board for a long time. I wonder if that could have been true for others? (I thought it was prominent, but that's just me)
I suppose I'm wondering what kind of response - numbers-wise - you were anticipating? Twelve seems low to me. And I'm not alone...
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20050323/msgs/476983.html
But again, I don't have enough prior experience, or a strong enough "feel" for the group/community as a whole to base anything on. I don't know quite what the "original" idea for the Babble birthday party entailed, either.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

I had no idea what to expect! I don't think 12 would interest CNN, but I think it would plenty for a good time. :-)

It should be fun!
I think you should make another announcement banner Dr bob, a louder and brighter one :-)

Is that what the committee thinks should be the next step? :-)

2 cents:
I rather think that we've heard from those who have a preference for when the party should be already.
But a reminder of when the party is to be held and an opportunity to be included in the count would be a good thing. Like a "sign up here" notice.

I agree. There's probably no need to repeat the "pick a date" step again.
The final count for choice of dates is:
13 posters voted (including Dr Bob)
6/4 - 9
6/11 - 4 (plus one "maybe")
6/18 - 5FYI, I can now only attend on 6/11. As it appears that probably won't be the date, maybe I should bow out of the committee now. Those committee members who are actually going, can probably plan the rest themselves - especially with quite a small group. I'd still be willing to help in any way I can, though.
Or I can stay on the committee. I just don't know if I'm comfortable having input on any decisions arranging a party I can't attend :-(
Either way, I'm fine with it.
