I can no longer do this. I've taken several Xanax, but not enough to overdose, so don't worry. I feel like I am now having a nervous breakdown. I can't take anymore. I'm so sorry that I have let you all down. I appreciate all your loving support but I've had more than I can deal with. I'm without a T for 3 more weeks.

Its not a swear word per se, but it you have to agree, that using a subject like that looks like you are suggesting someone is the Anti Christ, especially for a Christian, is pretty offensive, no?

There would be thousands of words that could be given the xxxxx treatment, why should this one be singled out for special treatment?

I feel like a dog or cat that's being mercilessly teased. Are we, in the end, just your lab animals after all -- despite all of your protestations to the contrary? I'm really beginning to believe so. Kenny,
You wrote,[....special treatment...].
There is a large body of posts here that are possibly interconnected in regards to what you have observed as are you a casual observer? It could take a large amount of time to answer your question from my point of view, so could you perhaps look through some of the archives? If not, I am answering these type of posts by myself, although recently a poster named verne has posted somewhat to my point of view, and some others also, and hope to uncover what is not perhaps visible to one immediatly that is new to this forum since this is the first time that I have seen your name.

I have been avoiding actually posting this.
I think one way for Lou to look at this, is if a subject line said "Lou Pilder-Nazi?"
I hope that might make things clearer, as I think we can ALL agree that that would be inapprpriate.

Lou:
I have a sincere question for you about your shorthand. These are some examples of your shorthand in the past: asposigs, pubgud, clorevisn, salonly, misclerup. Why didn't you abbreviate ANTICHRIST in the same way that you did in the examples above to Angel Girl? Just curious.

Malthus,
You wrote,[...why did you not abbreviate...],
The thread was about if the faith board was antichristian . There was discussion about the acceptability of the concept of [...salvation only...] and statements like [ ...salvation can only be through Jesus Christ...].
My postion is that the faith board is not antichristian if it is not acceptable to post statements like that and the word is a concdensed word from anorther word and it had a question mark after it. The subject was involving if the faith board is antichristian.

Lou:
Thank you for responding. I understand the underlying content of your message and inquiry. I was really wondering why you didn't abbreviate it as you usually do. I know when I'm taking notes in a class I abbreviate by taking out vowels, in the same way you do for your subject lines. For example I might have abbreviated the word to: "antchrst" if I were taking quick notes.

Right. Understood. Thanks for the warning. I've already put two PBCs under my belt on this page in the last 4 days (though I felt the second one didn't pass the smell test -- Doc yanked words out of context that WERE preceded by "I" statements, and the "silly and sophomoric brassiere jokes" line was a poke at myself. How can I be PBCed for being self-deprecating. I've spoken to the other two "bra" humorists, Emmy and gg, and neither said anything about being offended or feeling hurt or put down in any way. I feel set up in that second PBC rap). Still better wander back over to my usual hangouts, Social and Writing. No good has ever come of my visiting this page. All of my PBCs and blocks have stemmed from here. Ta. ;) Atticus

"Being offended to the nth degree is offensive in itself."
Verne:
How is being very offended offensive? Have you ever felt offended to the nth degree? Did you think that was offensive?

Dr Bob
I missed the original post about this but I don't think that from what i haev read here that i could possible being saying anything wrong. I needed you to know how upsteting i am finding this. I am only reading the aftermath and AngilGril sounds devastated. It may not be something that would bother you having by your name but it CLEARLY bothers her. I really don't want to speak out of line here but I thought that you had some kind of responsibility on this site to make sure people felt safe. It is very clear to me, and I havent even seen the original issue, that AG feels very ignored, hurt and a million other upsetting feelings. Can you please explain to us why you are allowing this? It hurts me to read her posts, and from the looks of it alot of people are also upset. I just need to understand why you won't remove the word, it seems like it shouldn't have even become such an issue.

Good, that's the idea here, after all, to receive support from others. So maybe in that way, at least, this thread has been a success...
> Why is it so hard for you to show us the support that we are looking for?
Is this a way of asking if I actually do like you, too?
> I can not understand even one reason why that word needs to remain in that subject line with my name.
I'm sorry if it seems insensitive, but I don't think it would work to base individual administrative decisions on how the person feels. Or on petitions. Should the words of others be xed out whenever someone feels hurt? Should there be a petition? It was a compromise even to asterisk the original word...

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.
If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:

Follow-ups regarding these issues, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

> BobSeems insensitive? It IS insensitive. Putting one asterisk was a very huge compromise. Now nobody could possibly know what that word is, could they Dr. Bob?
Can you in all honesty tell me that the word used beside my name or any equivalant equals any other? If you believe in Jesus Christ and are a Christian then the answer would have to be NO. There could be no other answer. And do I think x'ing out when somebody is hurt is appropriate?
YES YES YES, WHERE IS YOUR COMPASSION??? WHERE IS YOUR EMPATHY FOR OTHER HUMAN BEINGS???? WHERE IS THE SUPPORT??? AGAIN, ARE YOU EXEMPT FROM YOUR OWN RULES??? Do you not have feelings for others? Can you not feel their pain?
Maybe you forget that you are dealing with the mentally ill and you have absolutely NO way of knowing how anyone here is going to react. What if I HAD killed myself over YOUR lack of support, how would you feel then? Would you feel any differently? Would it make you question your decision or your rules and your lack of support? Would it Dr. Bob?
Maybe if things are so rigid that you can't show any compassion to others then the rules around here need to be changed. For once I would like to see you change your original punishment or actions and admit that maybe, just maybe there might be even the slightest, remote possibility that you were wrong. Do you show your own patients in your practice this same lack of caring? I would hope not.
And if you choose to give me ANY kind of punishment for this post then that in itself will be proof that you don't treat like situations the same because there are other posts on here that are extremely similiar to this one. So, I would have to ask you then, why were they overlooked and I am the one that gets punished. I could give you the URLs but I won't because I don't want them to get punished. I don't think you could honestly say that you must've missed them because there are quite a few.
I also find it quite interesting that you show up only AFTER I ask everybody to stop and the original subject line is archived. Why is that Dr. Bob? I would like to know. Were you waiting for the dust to settle first?

Dr. Bob
Please ignore my previous post. I wrote it in anger. Ok, that's obvious, you can tell that. I apologize.
Maybe you could think of it as an assignment like my therapist would give me, to write things down to get them off my chest to help me feel better? My therapist is away on vacation right now and I need an outlet to vent.
I'm sorry I chose this open forum to do so. Do you think you could think of this as one of my therapy assignments? I'll try really hard to curtail my moods from now on.

I think there is a difference between someone being hurt by a non-offensive word, and someone having their name in a subject line with "Antichrist?" next to it.
Would you have xxx'd it out if I had put "Lou Pilder - Nazi?" in a subject line? Maybe I need to try that and see.
