hi, again, dr. bob :),

chemist *is* the only one of the three that said he would abide when you said to be civil. :):):) and he did, while the other two didn't...i honestly think chemist is taking something positive from this, unlike the other two...please, dr. bob?:):) can he come back?:)

I agree with all the nice things you said about chemist. But, please don't blame yourself. If chemist did no wrong (which I believe) it can't be your fault that he did wrong. Right?

1. There were other comments later, including ones on this board.

2. A *lot* of this is subjective.

3. I didn't mean to imply he wasn't doing his best. I'm glad he's getting a lot of support, and I'm sorry I wasn't around.

4. What happened was unfortunate, but if possible, I'd like to try to focus on getting back on track and moving forward again.

That's true, maybe it would've been better also to have included a link to that section of the FAQ:

There may be positive results in the end. Including possibly less anger directed at others? I'm sorry you feel hurt, but I'm certainly not trying to punish you.

dr. bob, :)
if we get a certain amount of signatures on the petition will you consider letting chemist come back?

Having been the center of such attention in the past, the short answer is no. Bob doesn't like things to come down to popularity contests.

If chemist wants his block reassessed, he needs to email Bob, and also make his case.

Back during the 'big fires debate' there were many here that wanted him sanctioned for what he was writing. This didn't happen, rightly IMO, because he hadn't broken any objective rules and intent was too subjective.

Now chemist gets blocked for a subjective ruling that he was being sarcastic. Nothing that can be pointed at that any realistic person would agree is accusitory, foul, mean, attacking or whatever.

All of this *after* he posted on admin wanting someone to nip the whole thing in the bud and no help was forthcoming.

Oy.

For people who do NOT want him back...

Posted by becksA on August 31, 2004, at 17:53:12

I appreciate his knowledge, but he definnitly took it a step too far and seemed to always want to be the superior one....He came across as being somewhat childish at times in his demeanor, which was unfortunate, as he did add good insight most of the time....yet we do have many other posters that are also very knowledgable. I think we'll survive without him.

None of the posts on this board...by ANYONE can be guaranteed correct. No ones. We cannot guarantee that any one of us is not spreading falsehoods. I have no idea if chemist is right or wrong on this subject. I also don't know if he was blocked because of what he said on the subject or if the discussion simply became too heated...but unless we are back in the 1700's he still has the right to say it and all of us are free to contradict him.

This forum is seriously to strict..apparently he was being sarcastic or something and that got him blocked..I just skimmed through it but that's what I got out of it I couldn't see anything else wrong..in my opinion dr. bob goes a little to far trying to keep the peace...
