Hi, everyone,

Just wanted to wish us all happy birthday! Thanks for contributing so much, I think this is a great group. But of course I'm biased. :-)

Bob

PS: I was thinking about having a party next year. Would anyone be willing to come to Chicago?

June 10th 1998?
It looks like a full moon baby....sun in Gemini moon in Sagittarius.
The key phrase for Gemini is "I think".
Born under the sign of the twins Gemini is ruled by Mercury the winged god of communication...he has wings on this heels. Geminis are the nonconformists of the Zodiac. They dislike being bound to any particular person or place.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY.....MY SWEET TWINS!

I am forever grateful for this site and all the babblers on it. This is a lovely community of very interesting and exciting people.

"Never a dull moment" as my father often said about my Gemini mother.

I'd love to come to Chicago.

They have Polish restaurants, don't they? I'd do a lot for a good bowl of zurek.

i wouldn't miss a party for any known reason. however, the deciding factor would be whether there was an open bar.... if you say free drinks, i'll even come early to help decorate :)

Happy Birthday PB! I peeked in here back in December 99, when the home page had the power cord plugging into Dr Bob's head, and some kind of midi file playing. It was back when Usenet had already gone to pot, but the WWW still seemed new and slightly more innocent. Man, that's nearly 5 years ago.

A party in Chicago? Well there's just the slightest chance I could be there.

Do I need to update that? :-)

If there's interest, I guess we need a party committee?

You mean it's still there? My goodness. Better keep it for historical value.

Jai, are you expressing interest in being on the committee or just in being informed? Either way would be fine, but I think we need at least three to have a committee...

I have 2 comments, first, after being kicked out of the site I was angry and decided that an academian could not have the time to read all the posts here. I assumed that you pay a graduate student that you trust to administer the site with periodic review. I also found some of your punishments to be far too unfair and inconsistent to be the judgements of a bright guy who wants to promote the internet as a therapeutic milieu.

Then I read this post asking us to wish Dr. Bob a happy birthday. I don't believe that even an arrogant University of Chicago graduate student would be so presumptuous as to pretend to be Robert Hsuing and post an invitation to a birthday party! So, Dr. Bob, do you really read every post and is it actually you when a reply says Dr. Bob?

Second, this issue of the administator's actual identity relates to the issue of truth in this website. If someone posts an inaccurate statement such as, "Xanax killed 1.3 million Americans last year," can another individual challenge the vericity of such a statement without being considered uncivil? Certainly calling the poster a liar is unacceptible, but what about saying that I believe the statement to be false? Can an individual question the source of a posted statement attributed to another person? Also, how does one remark about an offensive statement - I think I have discovered that saying something is offenseve is considered uncivil, so, is it acceptible to say "I find this statement to be offensive to me?"

You have created boards that feature topics of writing, faith and other forums of personal expression. It seems to me that by only allowing supportive comments and not allowing individuals to challenge misleading or offensive remarks, contributors are denied the kind of realistic and healthy give and take that is necessary in a therapeutic group environment.

Shouldn't we have a native helping on the venue and activities? I've been to Chicago a couple of times, but I sure don't Know it.

Ya, I think someone who lives there would be a great idea.
I am not a party planning type of person so I find this overwhelming.

Hotel, food, place to gather....
KK is a party planner...what does she think?
