What would you say the reason is for your Seroquel and Zyprexa doses being so high? Also, why is your venlafaxine (Efexor) dose so low?

The neuroleptics are so high because i once quit medication for a few days and then i needed the high doses to not be psychotic.

Effexor is low because i dont like anorgasmia.

Hi,

>The neuroleptics are so high because i once quit medication for a few days and then i needed the high doses to not be psychotic

How are you doing for side effects and weight gain?

>Effexor is low because i dont like anorgasmia.

What about if 75mg per day could reduce your anxiety?

Do you get manic or agitated on antidepressants (I don't mean MAOIs), or is that not an issue for you?

In fact, do you get manic at all, or due to suffer with depression, anxiety and psychosis?

Well my cortisol is 250 and i am slightly overweight. 170 pounds on 5 foot 8. Some muscle left from my bodybuilding phase though. I think i have obsesssive thoughts as a side effect and some anxiety.

Perhaps. I will discuss with doc. Another option would be 75mg or 100mg Trazodone. I like that one better i have to admit.

> Do you get manic or agitated on antidepressants (I don't mean MAOIs), or is that not an issue for you?

Only the MAOIs.

> In fact, do you get manic at all, or due to suffer with depression, anxiety and psychosis?

Thats a good question. I was only manic on MAOI. Never without them. I am not considered bipolar although maybe i should be? I dont know.

The DSM 5 now qualifies your condition as being bipolar.

William Potter at the NIH diagnosed me as being bipolar in 1992. Prior to this, I had been described as being unipolar with antidepressant-induced mania.

MAOIs sometimes make me manic unless I am taking something as a prophylactic. It seems that Abilify prevents mania for me.

You think you feel more anxious as a side effect of taking so much Seroquel and Zyprexa? Tell us more.

Well, i think that the dopamine blockade comes with a price of more receptors and an increase in dopamine production.

What does your doctor advise for your anxiety?

Are all your meds/doses via the psychiatrist? Just wondering if you partly self treat. Not a criticism, just curious :) I get the impression you don't see the psych that often?

The meds are via the psychiatrist. I can make reasonable dose changes without him though. I see him every 6 weeks and he is busy. I chose him because he is not afraid to prescribe international drugs.

Do you think there is a medical solution to that anxiety? I dont thats why i dont speak about it with the psychiatrist. Well he said that no matter what meds i take i may run into anxiety from time to time.

So, do you have anxiety problems most of the time or just occasionally?

How does the anxiety respond to SSRIs rather than venlafaxine? Have you tried a few?

Half of the time maybe. Its not most of the time but it is more often than occasionally

SSRI i responded to sertraöine at a low dosage but it gave me akathisia. I tried some of the new ones but i aborted. Once i was suicidal.

Look into acetyl-l-carnitine (ALC). It is being studied closely for use in depression by employing randomized controlled trials (RCT).

How do you find tea (either black tea or green tea)?

Tea does seem to be calming compared to coffee, while also improving attention.

Many people here drink loads of black tea.
