Hey Monte,
I have been on Lyrica for just shy of a year and what I have found is that after a while at the same dose I just go flat. Just blah feeling.

Through trial and error I have figured out that Lyrica (at least for me) after a time at the same dosage requires an increase. It acts as though your blood levels are falling and it is as if you are in a constant state of mild withdrawal from the drug.

I have not wanted to increase so I have backed off the dosage when this has happened for just a couple of days or so by taking less more often then I go back up. I do best with this drug taking smaller amounts every 4-5 hrs with bedtime being the largest dose of the day.

Just a thought,
Peace,
Kaye

Kaye .. an interesting and inventive way to handle this.

What is your highest dosage of Lyrica (when you go high w/ it)?

Do you take the highest amount at bedtime (when you go high w/ it)?

I tried adrafinil a while ago along with some other nootropics and felt no effect. I was taking a hefty dose of clonazepam at the time though so perhaps that was masking the stimulant effect?

I'm wondering if my Valium dosage total 25mg a day masked the effect of Provigil too.

You can take it during the day? Wow. I thought it was just to be taken at bedtime. Think I need to make this move?

Yep..call your pdoc and increase the dose to (titrate up of course) 300mgs. a.m. and 300mgs. around 2:00 p.m. You should feel a big improvement. It works very well for my depression. Good luck girl!

Thanks Kaye..I think you may be absolutely right. The Lyrica is not as effective as it used to be. Thank you..i will mention it to my pdoc today, however i don't think he'll go higher than 600 mgs.

cf, my guess is yes. You need the valium, but perhaps(just my opinion) you could slowly lower the dose. My pdoc always preaches to me that benzo's can cause depression..i believe him. I take 1 mg. of Klonopin b.i.d. myself. Lyrica also helps with reducing anxiety, so i can stay at my fairly low benzo dose.

Adrafanil and Hydergine » Quintal

I had a nasty experience with Hydergine and Adrafinil. It was a difficult business thing and the combo was quite unhelpful when I really needed something. I had trouble speaking. Not terror, I just felt really strange and inarticulate.

How much Adrafinil did you take, Quintal? I took from 1 to 6 tabs a day, but mostly 2.

I can't remember how much I took exactly. Probably much more than recommended knowing me. I was taking it in combo with piracetam and vinpocetine.

>I had trouble speaking. Not terror, I just felt really strange and inarticulate.

I had this problem with olanzapine and lamotrigine. It seemed to take me a few seconds to understand what was being said to me and think of the words to respond properly. Also had difficulty reading.

I don't think I have went higher than around 300mg in the past. But it does seem like I may be inching above that point now. I have 75mg caps and I do open them up so that I can take the med in smaller amounts more frequently.

I have found that if I find myself feeling negative and draggy-like "I suck" and I just want to lay there it is a sure sign that I am needing more Lyrica.

This threw me at first because I thought maybe it was too uch and was de-motivating me. You know when you feel so crappy and you think 'well, taking more will either help or it won't.' Consistantly this is the case although I doubt it everytime.

Lyrical seems to just race through my system and it is definately a med that keeping a steady blood level is necessary. If I skip my larger nighttime dose it takes me all day to get it straight. I can't just take a big dose to amke up for it. Dunno why but many micro-doses are better.

This is a pain in the butt but :) the stuff helps me in ways nothing else ever has.

Hey-no free rides I guess. I do feel like this med is healing to my nervous system and brain-not toxic like I feel with many other drugs.

Peace,
Kaye

Declan, aside from the combo with the adrafanil, did you get any benefit from the hydergine? I took that for a while and didnt notice a huge difference, but wonder whether its not good to take anyway on general principle just for the vasodilator effect...

Also, how much were you taking?

Thanks,

No, because high dose is stimulating. My exact regimine is 300mgs at around 7-8:00 a.m., then around 2-3:00 p.m i take another 300mgs. It really works well..I'm not really depressed right now, just trapped inside this lethargic, tired body. I need something for energy, some dopamine (Wellbutrin) which i got yesterday. :) My shrink pretty much trusts me and gives me what i ask for, except he will not do stimulants. I hope you are feeling better today Cora..please,please, try the high dose Lyrica. What do you have to lose? If it doesn't work..big deal, time to try something else. You can ramp up pretty quickly, don't expect to feel better until you take 300mgs. in one dose.

At this point in thread, I got up and put the the following into action:

Lyrica - 75mg morn, 75mg midday, and 125mg h.s.

Provigil - (It kept going back and forth in my mind ... why had I not felt anything? ... was it the Valium in me ... what was it? ... shouldn't give up so soon ... experiment)

I took 400mg.

It worked .. whoa did it!! The T-day dishes that had been sitting in sink for days because I was too depressed to give a sh*t, 'got done', along w/ lots of other responsibilities undone.

Not sure how proceed. Can't take 200mg ... doesn't trip the trigger. Can't take 400 mg ... it 'steps on the trigger like a foot on a roach'. So, plan is .. 300mg upon awakening.

Why post this here and now?

I just woke up! I slept through TuesDAY! I saw the clock .. 5:30 .. thought was morning. Nope.

(Have back injury and I've awakened w/ breakthough pain ... C5-6 shoots straight up and causes piercing neck/head pain.)

I jumped backwards in the thread so you (and I!)would understand 'where I've been'.

Kaye, you're right re: Lyrica racing thru the body. I've always had meds 'race through me' and transdermal meds work best if available.

I don't know about Provigil decision. Realize I kind of 'threw the issue' into post Adrafanil and hope ok.

If anyone has thought, pls share .. post, babble, or I will share my email address. Can U put up w/ my unreliable response time pls.

Thank you for taking a step backwards w/ me.

debilitatingpain, cf

cf, you can't just increase Lyrica a little for one day and expect a miracle. Okay, i'm not saying Lyrica works for everbody (willyee), but if you titrate up to 5-600 mgs. and you can do this in about a week and a half or quicker, it may give you the great antidepressant effect it has for me. But, man you have to be consistant with it and patient..can you say HOMEOSTASIS, this is what you need to attain. Hang in their Missy, be consistant and persistant.

Hi Suzie

When I was taking Hydergine it was 9mg sublingual in the morning. Consistently positive effect for me, albeit kinda subtle, but quite real. The leaflet with it claims that there is some neurotransmission modulation that amounts to a boost for seratonin and dopamine and a cut to NE.

Insomnia made worse? Who knows what makes insomnia worse? Just about everything? My explanation for last night's insomnia is 3 oz of whisky, which, if true, seems pathetic.
