So I knew it was too good to be true. I went up to 10mgs about 2 weeks ago and didn't experience any side effects until now- I went on lex for anxiety and yet today I'm experiencing more depression then I know what to do with. Has anybody else experienced this during a change in dose? I was expecting increased anxiety. Not this. I feel like I can just sit in a corner and cry.

i take my lex as soon as i wake up. the time is usually like 9am. it works best for me. i am groggy at about 6pm, but it is not too bad. maybe you would be happier if you took it in the morning. my doc told me not to take mine at night. when i first got on it, i took it at 12pm and i just did not like it, so she said to take it as soon as i wake up. i find that it works out pretty good for me. hope that helps.

I wonder why you are feeling more depression than anxiety. i uped to 20 and had no side effects. i have not been depressed at all since 3 weeks on lex. maybe you should call your doctor and ask her what is going on. anxiety is easier to handle than depression (atleast for me). i am so sorry to hear that you are sad. maybe you are having a bad day, and you will feel better tommarrow. let me know if you need any help with anything else. good luck and i hope you feel better soon!

well, its actually pretty annoying b/c i am not really groggy, but i yawn alot. even if i am not tired. but everyone said the yawning should go away. my doc actually said that if i took it when i woke up that it would help with lifes daily pressures. maybe it helps u get through the day better if you take it when you wake up rather than before you go to bed. BUT my fiance is on paxil and his doc said to take his before he goes to bed. i dont get it, but you do what is best for you. you may want to take it when you wake up and see how it works for you. see ya!

Hi EM,
Taking your Lex in the morning might help with the anxiety that hits you in the afternoon. It's worth a try. I take mine between 10 and 11 and it has worked out well so far. When I first started, my panic would hit at 4 or 5 in the morning...so I stuck with the evening dose and hoped that at some point I would get a full nights rest. It took 5 weeks, but now I don't have any problems sleeping.
Really, whatever works best for you is when you should take your Lex. I'd like to suggest that if you decide to switch do it gradually. Take 5 mgs at your regular time and 5 mgs in the morning for a couple of days (aren't you at 10 mgs?). This way your body will have more time to adjust to the new time.
Good Luck!
K.

Hi Mel,
I'm assuming that you started out at 5 mgs, is that right? I started out at 10 mgs and for me the second week was the worst. A lot of people seem to hit a rough spot during week 2...although, I can't help but wonder why you didn't experience any difficulties during your second week at 5 mgs and you're having trouble now. Maybe there simply wasn't enough Lexapro in your system for you to feel any side effects. Just a thought.
I suggest trying to wait it out another week. See if your mood doesn't improve. I'm willing to bet that it will. When I increased to 15 mgs I felt a little out of it for about 2 weeks. Yesterday I increased to 20 mgs and am feeling much more depressed than usual. I hate it...but the good news is that it gets better. In a week or so you and I will both be feeling much better than we do now. Hang in there, even if you do go sit in a corner and cry - know that you're not alone.

I'm sorry I guess I wasn't clear- I did have the lex side effects at first but I hadn't had any since upping my dose to 10mgs until today. I'm sure I'll snap out of it I'm just sad right now and have a lot going on. Probably just overwhelmed. I appreciate all of your advice and know that with all of your help I'll hang in there. :-)

Mel...
I had the same problem. I got on Lex for terrible anxiety. When the anxiety was gone I was left with depression. I think it was there before but masked by terrible anxiety? In very few cases, these drugs do make depression worse or bring it on... see how you are feeling. I recently raised to 20mg of lex, had a great two weeks and am not not feeling so good. I wondering if it is just our bodies, getting adjusted!!!
Good luck, God Bless,
Lexy

Hey...
It must be something weird when you increase again, I was doing pretty darn well, now I am not feeling so well, better than yesterday, I cried my little self to sleep last night. I feel better today, spacey though and more negitive than I had been for a few weeks. Yuck, I hate this negitive thinking, I am also so sensitive to what people say to me, it sucks. Oh well, hope that things will get better for me when my moods even out. I feel like my brain is being re-wired again. Oh well, Im giving it to God and trying not to worry about it. Everyone smile,
Lexy

Dear Mel,
Like you I am being treated for anxiety, panic, and depression (in that order). I switched from 25mgs Paxil CR to 10mgs Lexapro without any break. When my dosage was raised to 15mgs after two weeks at 10mgs, I suffered from depression for about two weeks. Then it lifted and I felt much better. You will too,
Thinking of you,
Edna B

Hi,
I recently increased my Lexapro dose to 20 mgs and also increased my Wellbutrin dose to 150 mgs. Now I'm very sensitive to light, it hurts my eyes. I don't know if it's the Lex or the Wellbutrin. Has anyone experienced this with Lex? Thanks.
