> So I just got on Lexapro, and Ive been reading the comments on this site and I have some concerns I hope someone can help me with. First of all, I didnt realize that SSRI's could be so addictive as this is my first time Ive been on an antidepressant. How long does it usually take before addiction starts, and is there anyway to avoid it, or is my doc just an *sshole!? HELP
Lexapro was a very effective med for me and I have been on it twice, however, I happen to be one of those people that meds quit working after a period of time..these meds aren't addicting..some of them are hard on your system when you have to go off them..some are harder to discontinue than others..the word "withdrawal" that you see associated with discontinuing a med may be what is causing you to feel you become addicted to them..I hope you give Lex a good trial and I hope you feel better soon
