I'm surprized no one has responded to your query yet and hope you have found some answers.
Just a few observations.
12mg is a very small amount of DHEA. 50-100mg is a typical dose for those involved in life extension with blood testing.
You may blood test while on that amount to see if you're at a good level, or you may stop taking it for 2-3 weeks to get a baseline.
Trust yourself to observe its effect on your depression and to compare it with 7-Keto (or consider pregnenolone, which metabolizes into many hormones).
I've never heard of DHEA used for depression, but that doesn't mean it doesn't help.
The claim for 7-Keto is that it will not metabolize into testosterone (helpful for females). However, DHEA is not thought to be helpful in raising testosterone by people in the know (only by congressmen who want to ban the substence thinking it's abused by athletes). Even so, there are reports that DHEA causes facial hair growth in some women if taken at high enough doses.
For blood testing and a large body of information on DHEA and pregnenolone supplementation, go to the LEF.org website.
Personally, DHEA does very little for me. 7-Keto on the other hand helps my general well-being and energy level (I feel I do have adrenal issues not recognized by mainstream medicine).
Hope these observations are of help to you.
