> i'm transitioning to go up on seroquel and remove zyprexa. In a way, i think its good because i've been it too long. But when i take seroquel at night, like 300mg i would notice ease up in mood, but then sedation and by the time i take 600mg it makes me very sleepy, like almost trying to hit the bed. It suppost to have antidepressant effects, but i don't know seroquel makes me sleepy, then it gets strong to where i have to go to sleep. It's effects are gone by the neext day, it's a good mood controller during a mania, or it provides calm, but it's at the point sometimes where it knocks me out.

>Seroquel (quetiapine) is a strong anti-histamine, which -- like first-generation anti-histamines for allergy -- crosses the blood-brain-barrier. Therefore, sedative effects are to be expected, and there is no way around that, unless you could somehow change your sensitivity to histamine H1-receptor blockade. Of course, taking a stimulant drug may dose-dependently counteract the sedation, but that is kind of counter to the purpose of using Seroquel in the first place.
As for anti-depressant effects: no, not in my experience, but maybe for some people. Search Google for "seroquel drug seeking" and "seroquel q-ball", and you will find that some people go as far as to inject it! Therefore, in some people, it must have subjectively rewarding effects.
