I've used low dose naltrexone. As an antidepressant, I found it to be mildly effective. Some people's moods have a robust response to LDN. It can help some autoimmune disorders and some types of cancer.
It can cause sleep disturbances, including vivid dreams. This is why you should start with a low dosage -- about 1.5 mg. You should gradually increase your dosage over a period of weeks. The maximum dosage is 4.5 mg. For me, the sleep disturbances caused by LDN faded away over time.
People either have a compounding pharmacy prepare their low dose naltrexone capsules or they make their own liquid LDN. You do this by dissolving a 50 mg naltrexone tablet in 50 ml of distilled water. Keep this in the refrigerator and use a medicine dropper to administer the dose by mixing it with a little water. Some people mix it with juice because liquid LDN is bitter.
Most people recommend taking LDN at bedtime.
