So after many years on Nardil, the brand name is on back order and it is going to take a few weeks to fill an Rx. So for a month I have been on the Gavis/Lupin phenelzine. Much better on the wallet. But I have come to realize that it is stronger than brand name, at least in my experience. The clues that I have noticed are my weight increasing, especially around the stomach, a lower sex drive, and more drowsiness during the day. I finally came to this conclusion recently. I have stopped extra sweets and increased exercise, to no avail. I am sort of upset at myself for not noticing this earlier. But what could I have done? I am going to see the Dr. on Monday and suggest that I reduce the dose of the generic by half a tablet. I hope that reduces the side effects. Am I on the right track here?
