Almost every drug that people use for, err, recreational purposes can have short-term antidepressant effects.
Ketamine is distinctive in this regard b/c the AD dose is much lower than the dissociative one.My doc actually suggested when I last saw him, a couple weeks ago, that I try ketamine, much to my surprise: while I'd heard of its use as an AD, I didn't know at the time that it was in use (much less widespread use) in the States. (This, in fact, was what led me to sub to this board after having left for quite a few years...I realised that I was way out of touch in regard to new developments in clinical psychiatry!)
