Back before I got on the right meds, I took tramadol for my crazy. It helped anxiety, OCD, and to some extent depression quickly, and without too many side effects.
I *have* to take AAP drugs and anticonvulsants, at least for now. If you have the option of something more humane, like tramadol+klonopin, I'd personally do that in a heart beat. Cheaper, no TD risk, probably little or no weight gain, might cover all the bases...
...just my thoughts. I don't know if a doc would go for it...that would depend on your doc. Opiates were commonly used for nervous issues until the 50s or so, then they started using "modern" meds which, as we know, can be $$$ and come with their own sets of problems.
I'd say give it a try! Is there an XR or sustained release tramadol these days?
