It's not really a crap shoot. Over the years I've learned what my body can handle and what it can't. Coffee and tea in large quantities have never given me problems. I've been on Nardil for over a decade. Be careful starting out, but the old diet restrictions are overblown.

Jedi> Sorry for butting into the conversation, Chris here, from southern California. I am treatment resistant GAD/depression, have tried just about all the SSRIs (and a couple of the SNRIs) and I'm going to start Nardil next week. I'm kind of stressing about the dietary restrictions, and the possibility of a hypertensive crisis. I hear you guys talking about drinking a lot of coffee and tea to combat Nardil daytime tiredness. I, too, am a big tea drinker. But I thought those drinks, or those drinks in large amounts, were no-nos while on Nardil. Is that true? In your case(s), it sounds like no. And, I'm getting the idea from reading all the material on this website about the MAO-inhibitor diet, that no one really knows for certain how much tyramine is in any food at any given time, so, in essence, the whole thing is a crap shoot (though fortunately one that errs on the side of lower amounts of tyramine). Does that pretty much sum up your understanding too?
