Low-dose flupentixol isn't associated with the same level of EPS and TD that full-dose flupentixol (or any higher dose neuroleptic) is. That said, the risk is not zero, and if you're looking at long-term treatment with the neuroleptic, the risk becomes higher as your total neuroleptic dose increases. Low-dose lithium sounds like a reasonable alternative. You could also go ahead and try the flupentixol and take precautionary measures to reduce your TD risk, such as taking vitamin E+C, melatonin, B6, etc. and avoiding drug abuse and heavy smoking.
