In reply to suicide in my therapy group... what now..., posted by Jeroen on December 12, 2010, at 11:12:41
I'm so sorry Jereon. I've been shocked twice in my life by unexpected suicides. I understand how traumatic it is.
All of us with our illnesses learn how to be strong and do a good fake job. Sometimes we are so good at it others cannot see we are on the edge of ending it all.
On a birthday, a friend brought over a guy and we talked. He said he was a little depressed and the drugs the doc gave him didn't seem to help much. We talked about alternatives....meds, herbs, other doctors, etc. But honestly, it was a light hearted conversation because he really did not look or act like he was depressed. I know what depression looks like, and I just didn't see it. Two days later, his sister came to me sobbing in tears saying he "was gone"....he had hung himself in his apartment.
I'm sorry Jereon.
