I don't doubt the findings of this new meta-analysis, but I do think that a subgroup of depressed patients may benefit from DHA supplementation. One postmortem study that I'm aware of found DHA levels in the orbitofrontal cortex to be 22 percent lower in patients with major depressive disorder than in controls:

I've personally taken both high-EPA omega-3 supplements and DHA supplements and actually noticed more of a reduction in my symptoms when I took the DHA. So, there may be exceptions to the rule that EPA is generally more effective than DHA for depression.
