What you felt was the typical die-off effect of bacteria. The body cannot clear out all those dead corpses, body parts, and spilled toxins fast enough. The liver, kidneys, and lymph glands become overwhelmed and all that nasty crap just builds up. And thus the crappy feeling. Depression, fatigue, and brain fog are common with that. It's called a Herxheimer reaction. Those are also common symptoms of people before antibiotics....they don't realize it is an infection causing their symptoms that the psychiatrist is attempting to treat. It is also a very good diagnostic tool when testing a suspected hunch someone might have Lyme or something.
Anyway, yeah, Herx's are lousy and I hope you get back to where you were pretty quick. Takes the body a few days to clean out.
Opioids tend to upregulate the immune system, so that was probably partially involved as well, making the die-off even stronger than with just antibiotics.
And those were some rather potent antibiotics they gave you. Those will kill a lot more hidden badguys than just staph.
