In reply to Seriously Fear Of Alone, Stupid Stuff What is it?, posted by Phillipa on September 24, 2009, at 14:03:52
> This question is serious to me. What's it mean when you fear everything including your family, being alone for two seconds, going upstairs, stupid stuff but the fear is real to me. Funny as even when anxious no elevated heart rate, no emotions just hyperventilate or retreat. But when get out on the bike I fight it and feel better is it psychological or require a med? And I'm terrified of meds from past experiences with the ones I took myself. Thanks Jan/Phillipa
----Have you tried going on long walking tours in the mountains?
General:
From what I know, every mental disorder is 100 % biological, 100% psychological and 100% social. No matter how deeply rooted in childhood, the disorder or the problems have an organic correlate in the brain; There exist no such thing as an immaterial psyche - there is a (material) central nervous system, and it is a integral part of our bodies.
[I still use dualistic words as "mental" and "psychological", but that is just because I want to be understood and because of language conservatism].
So we have our bodies, but not minds, psyches or spirits, or more precise: We _are_ our bodies.
Medication can be used against problems from the childhood and cognitive therapy can be used against inherited (genetic, biological) mental disorders and vice versa, because also the cognitive therapy affects the brain.
If it hadn't done so, it wouldn't have had an effect at all.doxogenic
