Help..Neurontin for anxiety??

Hello everyone,
I've been battling depression/anxiety for over 3 years. Right now I'm on Lexapro and take Ativan prn for anxiety.
My doctor now wants me to take Neurontin for anxiety. Has anyone had any experience taking Neurontin? Did it help? What side effects did you experience?
I'm so frustrated that I can't get my anxiety under control. It is now starting to effect my job...I'm at the end of my rope, I feel so pathetic...
