Why are you taking an MAOI for depressive OCD ? Or have you tried other combinations, or do you have very severe MDD?

Success stories with OCD are not "cures", do not happen overnight, and usually are never with medication alone. They require behaviour therapy and compliance with such by the patient themselves -- willingness to stretch an inch to go a mile, not because its their fault, hardly -- that's what some people may think of CBT, but because its necessary.

I've had among the highest YBOCS scores seen with washing compulsions when I was at the end of high school, I was hospitalized and eventually things pared down, day treatment program and while I still have OCD for my life -- it is not something you can intrinsically remove, short of brain surgery on the caudate which would leave you lobotomized except in a handful of cases that have done this -- you have the tools to overcome future OCD manifestations and flareups.

If it is that severe, I would think one would be taking [Luvox + Seroquel/Zyprexa/Geodon/etc. or Anafranil] + klonopin, and not an MAOI. But maybe for you, the depression is worst. That's between you and your doctor, but for obvious reasons you can't take the above serotonergic agents and the MAOI. I'm not sure about antipsychotics but I believe so too as they are also partially serotonergic.

If the above isn't workable, you will have to do behavior therapy alone, which is possible with willpower -- I think you can take a benzodiazepine with the Parnate to help with stress, but don't quote me on that -- and a good psychologist / psychiatric nurse who can lay out a plan for you to follow. There are some good CBT books out there on OCD -- I'm not recalling the name of one at the moment but they all require commitment on your part. I know its very hard and I wish you success, but you have to believe in the therapy and yourself and that almost no matter what the case is, it can be mitigated to at least some extent. Pure obsessions are harder I must say and sometimes must be managed with antipsychotics alone or the above drug combinations I mentioned.
