It seems to me that if you truly believe in patient choice and the right to refuse treatment ( sans dangerous to self or others)one is hard pressed to think that one can not choose treatment with compensation. If you can choose no treatment with the very real risk of negative and/or positive consequences why can one not choose treatment with compensation even though there might be positive and/or negative consequences. If one is resistant to taking medication because of a fear of negative consequences why is it any less a matter of autonomy to choose compensation even if other negative consequences may be experienced.
