Since MAOIs can be stimulating, short-term neuroleptic use could overcome that. Also, for a while, combined neuroleptic/AD drugs for depressive disorders was en vogue.
Yes, there was a drug combo here in the UK called Parstelin (Parnate and Stelazine). My old psychiatric nurse said it was very effective in mixed depressive and anxiety states.
