I have taken Remeron, 15-30 mgs, on a few occassions for no more than 3 consecutive days.In addition to the sedation, I did find it to also be quite anxiolytic (I think I have sense of the difference between the two).
Is this rapid-onset anxiolysis likely due to the 5-HT2/5-HT3 antagonism or antihistamine action?
The reason I ask is that I'm trying to counter the anxiety from 1 gram of (pure) EPA (I had thought that EPA *decreases* anxiety?) .
The EPA helps enough with depression and ADHD that I'd like to hold on to it and find a way to deal with the accompanied anxiety, and without a benzo if possible (only use if absolutely needed). Non-rx alternatives such as taurine and magnesium have been inneffective, so I'm looking at the rx route.
Despite its reputation, I'm wondering if Buspar might balance out the fish oil. My logic is that I have major anxiety in response to SSRI's (and EPA/fish oil), and surmise it could be due 5-HT1, 2 or 3 receptor hypersensitivity.
Might anyone have any thoughts?
And oh yeah....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks...Peace...Saturn
