In reply to anybdy in the US take RIMA's(or international ppl), posted by nickguy on August 3, 2006, at 19:17:46
Hey there Nickguy,
I live in the UK and I have tried moclobemide, a RIMA that isn't available in the states. I think its the most popular RIMA out there, certainly in Europe. Yes there are people in the US who have got a prescription from their docs and had it filled in a European pharmacy and then had it shipped over. I get the impression that there are no significant hurdles to this practice.
Well my experience with moc - it unfortunately didn't last too long, because I developed a rash on my hands (which, I think in hindsight, was unrelated to the moc) and my pdoc thought it best to come off it (despite never having seen the rash). I generally don't like taking conventional medicines, so I was more than happy to stop.
Anyway it certainly works in the first few days. It gave me a significant energy boost, increased my socialability, stopped panic and did make me feel abit dizzy spaced out at times. But I didn't take it for long (maybe 1 and a half weeks?) and stopped because of the (unrelated?) rash.
Hmmm. According to some ancedotal reports, its one of those meds which you will know if it will work fairly quicky. And also it looks good on paper, but some people have found it disappointing. But then again, this happens with all meds.
Good luck!
Kind regards
Meri
