I tried it in 1996 ... well, it ws better than Serzone (nefazodone) at the time. It kept me up the first night. Thereafter, I could hardly feel its therapeutic effects; it's sort of that it put a "floor" on my depression--I just couldn't get worse. No great shakes. The previous poster is right on: YMMV.
And the side effects of Prozac and the other SSRIs just kill me--no interest in food, or sex. Causes difficulty with others! When I need a true blast, I combine Effexor and Remeron. I can tolerate Remeron no problem, but a lot of people say it turns them into zombies--so there you are.
Finally, the diagnosis of myself as bipolar cleared up a lot of these antidepressant-hunting-behaviors; now I take Lamictal (lamotrigine) and feel pretty darned good.
