Xanax XR vs. Klonopin

Posted by janeB on June 5, 2006, at 20:17:52

I have not frequented this board for quite a while but used to rely on it and was helped immensely. Have I missed discussion on the posibility of Xanax XR replacing Klonopin? Originally I was taken off xanax because it was short acting and placed on Klonopin because it was long acting and was told that I should probably take it for the rest of my life. But I remember my psychiatrist saying that xanax had anti-depressant properties for some people whereas klonopin could cause more depression. My psychiatrist retired, I moved, and my GP prefers SSRIs. I'm looking for updated info. Thanks, Jane
