The strangness of ANXIETY symptoms - Question

Posted by Glydin on August 21, 2005, at 22:43:03

I know anxiety symptoms can be quite individual, but I have a question if anyone else experiences this one.

During times of extreme stress, my anxiety seems to fire a shot across the bow, so to speak, prior to going into a really horrible phase. This is fortunate for me and I can generally take steps to thwart a real crisis – usually.

My strange symptom is a startle type response as I’m falling asleep or as I’m waking. This is different from a sleep paralysis feeling, which I have experienced also. This feels akin to a mini panic attack. It’s very short-lived lasting 15 – 30 seconds but can cluster when in the in between sleep and wake state. It’s very unsettling as anxiety symptoms are… Klonopin helps this but it takes a while to get into my system after a period off. So, I struggle with them for several days even if things go well once the K kicks in.

I guess it would just be nice to know someone else knows of what I speak and can tell me they have had this weird experience also.

Anybody?
