> I have been on so many SSRI's. I believe after a while they stop working. Prozac works best for me. I am on that and I was adding Lexapro which was ok until I got very depressed again. Now I am adding in Luvox, but I am not manic/depressive. We are hoping it just gives me a bump. Has anyone tried this combo? Has anyone found that after a while the drugs stop working? Can you go back and try others that have worked previously? I am very discouraged and depressed. Another question: has anyone had a backache from Lexapro withdrawals? Thanks in advance for your help.
>Hi....my doctor has mixed SSRI's with me, as well as SNRI's, and the list of meds goes on. I believe there is some clinical evidence that drug 'cocktails' work and poop out less because they are hitting more receptor sites in the brain. I honestly wouldn't rule out any med combo, as long as it doesn't harm you. I know people on multiple antidepressants, multiple antipsychotics, stimulants mixed with benzo's and various other psychotropic meds. And yes, many of these people are doing quite well.
Anyhow...try talking to your doctor about it.
I know it's a hard road (12 years for me) but you will surpise yourself with the relief a drug combo can give you.Best wishes..
