I lived with a bipolar father and I am almost certain that if you were bipolar, you would have realized it by now (or at least people close to you would have).
Maybe I've just seen the extremes of it but with my father and grandmother, it was so advertly obvious they were bipolar there was no guessing about it.
Because of my family history, my doctor recently suggested that I could be bipolar (because I'm having a weird reaction to Lexapro).
I took her advice and went to the psychiatrist to rule it out (even though I was certain I wasn't) and sure enough, the psych even said, " Oh no, anxiety from medication and bipolar are two totally different things."
Anyway, my doctor wanted me on Geodone at first because I wasn't responding to the Lexapro (which is also used for bipolar).
I think they just intermix these drugs at times when they are at a loss.
