Hi folks,
a while ago I decided that I needed to take something for my social anxiety (because I'd like to get a job and other stuff and am sick of what I've been on for years) and settled on making the food sacrifices for Nardil.I'm in Oz (Australia) and my doctor said
I had to see a psychiatrist to get a prescription for Nardil. So I went and visted a psych in the city and he concluded that my SAD wasn't severe. He said he hadn't heard of people taking Nardil for SAD and that if I really wanted to take something he would advise Zoloft.
I asked him about taking something for a job interview and he said he would write a letter recommending a prescription for alazopram [or maybe lorazapam not sure now] as well as the Zoloft .. with a warning attached.
All that I have read says Nardil and Klonopin are
best and SRRIs aren't really effective for social anxiety and there's hardly nothing about Zoloft except for 3Beers post saying it was great for chatting to the girls (lol :O) but he had to discontinue because he was diagnosed as bipolar.
So if the only thing I can get my hands on so to speak is an SSRI- should I try out Zoloft or
push my GP to try another one?Oh and how affective are the benzos mentioned?
Damian in Oz.
