Dear All,
First time I am posting here, but have been visiting the "room" for quite some time. I have often hesitated but never crossed the Rubicone…
Alea iacta est, let me shoot now:I am a long term user of dihydrocodeine tartrato (codicontin slow release). I have an average consumption of 90mg daily. But, as all opiods derivatives tolerance is a slight problem*, so I have cycles of daily consumption around 60mg (to reduce my tolerance) which may last 1 or two month , then I slowly return to my optimum 90-120mg dose.
However I am experimenting other means not only to neutralize the tolerance effect, but also to find the optimal cure to my mild depression and stress:
- I have tried successfully a combination of lexotan (bromuzepan) 1.5 mg (at 8 PM) and 90 mg codeine (9 AM).
- Then switched to 0.125 mg Xanax (8 PM) and 90 mg codeina.Lately I had some strong head-ache (stress...) and I was prescribed with ZOMIG 2.5 (zolmitriptan, serotonin reuptake blocker) to cure it.
It worked great as it was very effective against the pain but it also happened to have positive effects on my mood!
After 1-hour or 1hour and half pain disappears and mood improves to the point that I do not feel any need for codeine (at least not until mid afternoon, more or less 34 hours after the previous intake ) or any other surrogate. The positive effect on my mood would even be protracted as for a few more days my need for codeine can drop easily to the minimum of 60 mg daily.Now here comes my obvious question: shall I try a combination of low codeine and SSRI’s with eventually the goal of eliminating codeina?
If yes, which SSRI should I start with? Prozac???Thank you for reading and eventually commenting

*for opioid tolerance I have read research on combination of low dose of naloxone and opioid derivatives, with very interesting results (see opioids.com)PS: sorry my elementary English, I’m Italian..
