Like the other posters said, dexedrine (or Ritalin, or, occasionally, Adderall) can be used for depression. Usually the doc will use these as "augmenting" agents; they jumpstart antidepressants and help kill off lethargy. But..they're Schedule II, so a lot of docs will try many, many drugs before the thought of stimulant augmentation even pops up. If you ind a doc who will do it (and is GOOD at it), stimulant augmentation can not only help with depression, but also with anxiety (odd, but true) and, obviously, concentration/cognitive problems associated with depression. If your doc won't go for a full-fledged stimulant, she or he may be willing to try Provigil.
