medications in Europe

Posted by margi on July 2, 2004, at 19:34:36

My daughter, traveling in Europe, has had a sort of "breakdown" and was threatening suicide. I frantically found an English-speaking person in an international organization I belong to that was willing to take her to a Dr in Rome (on a holiday!). The Dr. prescribed Zoloft and Lexitan, which is bromazepam. I would like to know other's experiences with these meds. I am a worrying mother thousands of miles from my daughter. She is 20 and traveling with her 22 y.o. sister. She needs to return to the Dr. in a week for "information about weaning her off medication". I assume that she means the bromazepam, not the Zoloft? The language barrier has been a problem...I have a 16 yo daughter at home who is on Effexor for Anxiety and who took lorazepam at the beginning -- are lorazepam and bromazepam related drugs? I know the Dr. here told us lorazepam is addictive and not for long-term use. Thanks for any help.
