anyone here had ECT?

It may be down the road a bit, but my doctor and I have discussed Ect as a possible means of getting out of this bipolar depression. I am just a bit worried about any long term cognitive side-effects -short-term memory loss I can deal with. Has anyone here had ect with any success? - thanks
