Dex was orginally made to treat depression, along with obesity back in 1937 i belive. Popular for a while till the 60's when abuse started getting bad.
But i agree it's an effective stimulant anti-depressant. Usually doctor prescribe it after failed trials with antidepressants, and it depends on the doctor's experiece. An experienced doc that's older may be familar with presrbiing dexedrine after failed trials, and usally its combined with an antidepressant at the same time.
It is simple to abuse, this is why it is put on the waiting list to be presbribed after everything else. But, usally people take it responsibly.
