What she told me was that I have a "mild" case of BP2 (I presume that is not like being a "little bit" pregnant; and that my manic periods are very short, benign, and infrequent. My pattern is months of major depression with a couple of great weeks when I feel taller, smarter, skinnier, but not invincible, if that helps you. My p-doc said that she didn't want to put me on a mood stabilizer, because in her words, "you'll never get off them". I haven't a clue as to why that may be but hey - as long as my meds are working, I'm satisfied.
My other problems are GAD and panic attacks. The Effexor XR (I'm at 150mg) works on both the depression and the anxiety. The Wellbutrin XL (300mg) also helps with the depression and gives me more energy; sometimes too much.
The Xanax (.5mg) I take at the onset of a panic attack or when I anticipate putting myself in a situation when it's likely to happen. The Ambien (5mg) I take to let me sleep without my mind racing and so I don't wake up every hour on the hour like I'm Big Ben.
Also seeing a therapist and another one specializing in EMDR therapy.
