Hi. I was on Paxil a couple years and even with typical age-factor weight gain, I went up about 20 pounds. I did exercise too and really don't eat a lot of junk food. Later, I noticed to that I was laying around more; perhaps a masking of depression Paxil didn't help with.
I told my doc I couldn't take the weight gain or laziness and she switched me to Effexor. I am only on 37.5 in am and pm, but I did get some giddy-up back. I didn't 'miraculously' drop any weight, although I did see in some other forums other folks felt that it did help.
Although I get the 'you look fine', I know I could look better and will still try to get it off. If I was eating a pint of ice cream and brownies everyday, then I'd feel validated for the gain, but I don't eat like that, so having it just pile on without even 'enjoying' it is frustrating. BUT, having less angst IS worth it.
Good luck - and let (us) know how it goes!
