I'm not sure but I'm thinking that effexor and paxil are the more stimulating antidepressants. Both paxil and effexor have these common side effects anorexia, dizziness, insomnia, nausea and nervousness. Someone who is as tense as you, should not be taking stimulating antidepressants, in my mind? I'm a canadain Rn, and I see a psychiatrist who specializes in unipolar depression for my problem. I don't if your american, how your medical system works? But a Gp will most likely have no clue what he's prescribing, and should refer you to a specialist which would be a psychiatrist. Now, Trazodone is an antidepresant, an older one that has sedating, and antianxiety type properties in it. Remeron worked well for me, in the fact that I slept like a baby woke up refreshed, and got off years of Clonazepam, which would be close to your ativan. I don't know you may want to ask you Doc why your on stimulating antidepressants, and would he or she consider switching one of your current medications to an antidepressant that would give you a more claming effect! Good luck my friend! Sorry for the long letter here!
