high blood pressure on effexor

i am currently taking 75mgs of effexor 3 times a day. I am fairly new to this medication. I have never been on anything before. I am a 26 year old female. I have checked my blood pressure several times this past week and at different grocery stores and each time my bp was around 140/90, never any lower. The medication has helped so much, but i am now wondering if the meds are making my bp rise. Any suggestions? I do see psy. doc on wed. I also take 1mg of xanax at bedtime. Which by the time i get home from work my face starts to flush real bad and feels incredibly hot. I don't know if it is from xanax, effexor, bp, etc.
