I have similar SEs from Effexor. I don't have any burning sensation, but do have the frequent and sudden urge.

When I was trying to find out a couple of years ago why this was happening, the best I could come up with as an explanation is just a guess that it might have something to do with serotonin receptors in the bladder, the theory being that if the medication stimulates these serotonin receptors in the muscle of the bladder, the bladder can't relax enough to fill up completely. But I've not been able to get any real validation of this from any of my doctors. They nod and say well, it's possible. But they don't know.

I haven't researched it recently, though.

For me, it seems like it is slightly less severe with a lower dose, but it is still a problem I have to manage. It hasn't been enough to want to stop taking the med, which has helped me a lot, despite this and some other SEs. I wear liners all the time just in case and take preventive trips to the WC.
