I have an extreme case of avoidant personality disorder, and have found benzodiazepines to be just great. Avoidant personality disorder is often seen as a very extreme social phobia, which is a disorder that responds well to benzos. People with AvPD may require doses higher than the norm (it's been suggested that those with AvPD respond in a less than dramatic fashion to treatment with anti-anxiety medication). I would certainly talk to my doctor about giving Klonopin or Xanax a try, expecially.
