Geri122:
Hi there! Of course you're scared and that is OK, very normal! You did a great thing by posting to this board, for starters. Secondly, telling a friend is another good step. If you can't talk about how you feel, write about it, like you're doing here. When I was a teenager I went through a bad time, probably when my depression started - felt like I was in a hole and I just couldn't climb out. Writing in a journal was a life-saver, it was an assignment for school. The teacher read it and spent a lot of time talking to me. I think he saved my life in many ways. So, can you write a note and give it to a counselor at school? Jot down the type of things you've written here. It won't take much for them to understand your situation. Just ask her/him for a phone number or place you can go that is geared toward helping teens. If you don't want to talk to someone at school, during school hours, that's okay.
Please know you are not alone! As disconnected as you may feel from your parents, I know they don't want you to hurt. My dad totally shocked me at how supportive he was when I started talking to him about my depression - at age 14. Do you have another relative you can talk to - grandparent, aunt or cousin?
You are reaching out for help and we are proud of you! We're here for you. Please realize that this is not you, it's your body's chemicals. You can find your way out of this. It took me over 20 years to do it. I don't want to see that happen to you!!!
