Hi Katia,

It's certainly a possibility. A lot of hypothyroiders get depressed, and I know that when I forget or can't take my Synthroid, I get pretty grumpy and low. Just be careful that they start you on a LOW dose... it builds up in your system slowly over time and it can be a while to see improvement. I was on too high a dose, which messed with my hormones, which caused my depression I think... and now I'm fighting Celexa withdrawal. A very slippery slope. However, if you get checked regularly by a responsible endocrinologist, it can help a lot. And if you're sensitive to synthetic hormone, there's Armour Synthroid, which is extracted, and it has a much shorter half-life.
