Help! Going from effexor from paxil, need feedback

Hi,
I am switching from paxil to effexor and am really hitting a low, I feel horrible. and with the holiday and no family it is scaring me.
In any case I am going off paxil and switching to effexor after two years on paxil (it made me sluggish and I gained 30 pounds I can't take off)
I am not on 10 mg of paxil alternating with 5mg every other day, and the first week on effexor I started with 75mg, and now the second week am on 150 mg. Has anyone taken effexor, I feel really depressed so far, how long did it take to work? and what dose are you on. Any positive feedback would be so welcome, I really need support.
