I borrowed a lot of money from my parents for medical expenses when i realized that without PROPER treatment (I had seen many doctors but no specialists, and I am someone only a specialist could help),I'd spend the rest of my life barely able to work 20 hours a week, completely unable to sleep or eat normally, feeling almost totally unable to function in the smallest way. I saw a specialist who advised me to apply for disability and Medicaid. Didn't get the disability, but i did get medicaid benefits, which is a good thing considering a month's medications come to over $350. I am able to function now and may not need another year of Medicaid since I may get a job that has medical benefits. That was something I couldn't dream of when my disorders were untreated.
I will tell you, though, that even with some help from my parents (they did not understand my condition and still don't, but it matters less now) the time of month when i needed to refill my scripts was always a tough time financially; i was incredibly thankful when my health insurance card came in the mail :)
